The old website, pictured the right, was the first webpage TAGD had. It featured the graphics work of Julie Gele along with
a basic html layout that served to provide basic information about the organization. While it served it's purpose for a couple years,
everyone eventually decided that a more up to date, dynamic website was needed to help the organization reach it's goals.
So over the summer of 2005 this website was designed and created. Danny Dyer provided the graphics work and look of the site,
while Brandon Green designed the layout and programmed the PHP backend.
The goals from the beginning of designing this site were to have a site that looked good, was easy to navigate, contained
a lot of useful information, and was dynamic in that anyone could add content to make the site better. The ability for anyone to
add content comes from a basic Wiki idea, where the content that people submit is monitored by Admins to be sure that it is
appropriate. On some areas of the site, such as the Resources, anything submitted is immediatly visible to the public, but
content that has not been confirmed by an Admin can be marked as anyone as objectionable and it will become invisible to the
general public until an Admin has determined if it should be deleted or not. This way the site can grow and become more useful
through the contributions of visitors while still maintaining integrity and avoiding problems such as potential spamming or
abuse. Visitor's help is also used in voting on the usefulness of resources or submitting notes to help others find valueable
information more efficently.
So browse through the site, and if you have anything to submit, an event, a member update, a resource, or general comment
about the site, please do. The more people that participate in making the site richer in content, the better and more useful it will become.
