Welcome to the TAGD Website! This site is meant to provide information about our organization, showcase our members and their work, and provide resources to help anyone interested in making games. Join us at our weekly meetings every Monday at 7:30pm in HRBB 113 for project updates, speakers, tutorials, and more! Anyone interested in developing games, whether from a programming, design, or art aspect is welcome to attend. Be sure to join the ListServe for meeting reminders and details.

Guest Speaker: Victor Palmer 2008-02-13

Victor Palmer, former TAGD member and A&M Ph.D. graduate from 2007 will be giving a presentation during the next TAGD meeting. Victor has worked for EA doing development on the 360/PS3 Godfather game and developed several independent games that won awards at both the Student IGF and Slamdance Games Festival in 2005. He is currently doing consulting work in graphics and GPGPU development for the medical industry along with developing from the ground up the highly successful centsports.com online sports-betting MMOG. His presentation will cover how his current activities relate to topics learned from game programming and also recruiting developers for his centsports.com business.

Sprokects of Strife wins! 2007-09-05

A student team consisting of several TAGD members completed the game Sprockets of Strife this past spring as part of the game design/programming class. The game was made in C# with XNA so a demo can be downloaded from their site for either Xbox 360 or the PC. They also entered the game into the Dream Build Play competition and placed in 3rd. The team is currently pursuing a possible publishing deal so that the game can be finalized and launched on Xbox Live Arcade.

Fall 2007 Starts 2007-08-27

It's the beginning of another fall semester for TAGD, that means the beginning of another BigGame project for the Student IGF and more weekly meetings with tutorials and speakers. Be sure to attend the meetings as we start discussing how we will approach this year's IGF entry.

Meetings this semester will start off being in HRBB 113 at 7pm, every Tuesday.

Aegis Wing Released on XBLA 2007-05-14

Aegis Wing, a summer intern project worked on by TAGD members Danny Dyer and Matt Monson, will be released this week for the Xbox 360 for free. IGN has screenshots and info for the game along with a developer spotlight with more information about how the game was made. The game has also gotten a frontpage story on Digg.

End of Spring '07 2007-05-01

Another great TAGD semester is just about over. We have elected new officers for next year and our end of semester part is this Saturday 4-6 in the MSC. See you all next fall!

TAGD One Week Game '07 2007-04-09

It's time for another one week game competition! This year we have two categories, one open category where you can make a game in whatever you want. The second category is restricted to starting with the TAGD Oneweek Game Framework but you can go anywhere you want from that. TOGF shows how to setup and use DXUtil so that getting started is incredibly easy. All you need is an idea and a few hours!

The deadline for games is the next meeting, where we will show them off and then present prizes at the following meeting. Don't miss your chance to win some great prizes and have fun making a game!

Flash Shooter Tutorial 2007-04-05

Lars' flash shooter tutorial is finally up in the file archive section. If you ever wanted to make a game in flash but didn't know how to start this is it!

Thingavore! Level Design Contest 2007-02-03

We are having a Thingavore! Level Design Contest that will start on this monday. Lars made an awesome level editor for Thingavore! and it's time that we got some more use out of it. So we will be holding a competition to see who can develop the best Thingavore levels in three different categories, each measuring the level of difficulty. You must submit the level by Sunday February 11th at 11:59pm to brandonagr at gmail.com
